After seeing the new crop of comedies that few issued during the few years I began to ask who was responsible for coming up with some of the most politically incorrect and most entertaining movies in Hollywood today.
The Internet Movie Database IMDB also known as an excellent tool for Hollywood to find answers on everything. So I dove with some of my favorites and came up with some surprising insights.
Superbad: The coming of age teen comedyis a roadmap for parents worst fears. Screenplay by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, it is amazing how perfect they are able to pen a very accurate portrait of life in high school in the last ten years.
The 40 Year Old Virgin: Ricky Gervais is responsible for the creation of a UK-based. When a hit show catch with the BBC, is composed of about 8-12 episodes. But that was syndicated worldwide by Gervais responsible for launching the careerSteve Carrell. After Carrell Virgin Spring (with Apatow), his career fell into place and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall: A fun look at relationships in Tinsel Town with Jason Segel (of How I Met Your Mother, I Love You Man). Sailing is just fun. Except a bit 'too much of Jason shows his part of this man is a great film.
Funny People: a film is not so funny comedy. That's not to say that I dislike this film.The chemistry between Sandler and Rogen was great. Sandler can act! Apatow wrote and directed this movie and are being very busy for the next decade, has 12 films, all of which are currently written into the development phase. Just a note - is also responsible for scripting, Pineapple Express, You Do not Mess With The Zohan and The Dewey Cox Story.
Anchorman: Seeing this in the theater many years ago, I had. Then I saw the unrated version and thingsbecame clear. This was a very funny movie. Will Ferrell wrote this script and was going to also responsible for writing Talladega Nights, Step Brothers A Night at the Roxbury.
Year One: This film shows that even the best of the best can make mistakes. Harold Ramis wrote the film that I have to say is not really worse than that. However, we can forgive him that because he was responsible for classics like Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters, Caddy Shack and was thegreat collections of all time comedy Animal House.
The new group of talented Apatow in Hollywood today in a class by itself. was Steve Carrell, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Paul Rudd (I can not say that he wrote the role models, rather than accuse him of bus), Will Farrell and Evan Goldberg hopefully continue to make us laugh with their unusual style humor vernacular for the next few years.
